How to Choose the Right QR Code Size for Print
QR code size directly affects scannability. The industry standard is a 10:1 ratio — the scanning distance divided by ten equals the minimum QR code size. Scanning from 50cm requires at least a 5cm code.
For billboards viewed from 10 meters, you need at least a 1-meter QR code. For business cards scanned at 15cm, a 1.5cm code suffices. Always err on the larger side when possible.
Print at minimum 300 DPI for paper materials. Digital displays should use at least 4-pixel module size. Complex QR codes with more data need larger sizes or higher error correction.
Test your printed QR codes at the intended scanning distance before mass production. Lighting conditions, surface curvature, and print quality all affect readability.
